1965: The Righteous Brothers led the US hit parade with "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin". According to the RIAA, the song has now been played on US radio stations over 8 million times, more than any other record in history.

1983: After cracking the US Top 10 in 1978 with "Hold The Line" (#5) and again in 1982 with "Rosanna" (#2), Toto has their first and only Billboard #1 hit with "Africa". Over the next five years, they would reach the Top 40 five more times.

1984: A Detroit quartet who call themselves The Romantics see their biggest hit, "Talking In Your Sleep" peak at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The million selling single stayed on the chart for an amazing fifteen weeks.

1968: An Oxford, Ohio group called the Lemon Pipers saw their only Billboard Top 40 hit, "Green Tambourine", reach #1. It made #7 in the UK. The band would never repeat their success, although "Rice Is Nice" (#46) and "Jelly Jungle" (#70) did enter the Hot 100 later in the year.

1980: Despite controversy over the song's lyrics, which reference teen pregnancy and promote contraception, the English ska band The Specials topped the UK chart with "Too Much Too Young".
