1964: The Animals' self-titled album enters the Billboard LP chart. It contains their #1 hit, "House Of The Rising Sun". The British album "The Animals" was released a month later with substantially differing contents.

1960: "Stay" by Maurice Williams And The Zodiacs enters the US chart on its way to number one. At just 1:37, it becomes the shortest US chart topper in Rock 'n' Roll history.

1977: Not only was Star Wars a hit at the movie box office, "The Star Wars Theme" by Meco was the best selling single in the US. The orchestra was lead by American record producer and musician, Domenico Monardo. Both the single and the album "Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk" would be certified Platinum in the US.

1972: David Cassidy reached the top of the UK singles chart with a cover version of The Rascals' 1967 hit, "How Can I Be Sure". It would be the first of two UK #1's for Cassidy, but in America it stalled at #25.

1959: Following a bit of a dry spell after their #4 hit "Tears On My Pillow" a year earlier, Little Anthony And The Imperials record "Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop", which will reach #24 in the US early next year.
