1983: KISS appeared in public for the first time without their make-up when they guested on MTV, promoting the release of their newest album, "Lick It Up".

1968: The Fifth Dimension are awarded their second Gold record for their rendition of Laura Nyro's "Stoned Soul Picnic". The song reached #3 on the Billboard Pop chart and #2 on the R&B chart.

1972: Three Dog Night reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the third time with a song written in 1955 called "Black and White". In the UK however, the record failed to chart at all.

1962: The Four Seasons had their first number 1 hit when "Sherry" reached the top of both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Cashbox Best Sellers list. The song was originally titled "Terry", but after considering other names, including "Jackie", after Jackie Kennedy, the group changed the lyrics to "Sherry" after Cheri Spector, the daughter of one of Bob Crewe's best friends. Over their career the Seasons would add three more chart toppers, "Rag Doll", "Walk Like a Man" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" to their list of eleven Top 10 hits.

1974: After a two year battle with heroin, Eric Clapton was back in a big way. His version of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" hit the top of the Billboard chart, rejuvenating his career.
