1975: The Amazing Rhythm Aces enter the Billboard Hot 100 with a song about a casual, hotel interlude called "Third Rate Romance", which will climb to #14. Although they would have other hits on the Country chart, this will be the only Pop chart entry for the Knoxville, Tennessee quintet.

1981: "Jessie's Girl", by Australian rocker Rick Springfield, was the top selling single in America. It would go on to be named Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at next year's Grammy Awards.

1982: A Chicago quintet called Survivor started a six week run at #1 on the Billboard singles chart with "Eye Of The Tiger". The song also topped the UK chart. Over the next four years, the band would place six more songs on the Billboard Top 40 and become an icon of '80s Rock.

1966: The Troggs led the Cashbox Best Sellers chart with their version of "Wild Thing". Lead singer Reg Presley would later say that after hearing the song for the first time, he was hesitant to record it because the words were "so corny."
