1957: The Everly Brothers record "Bye Bye Love", a teen-age love song that was written by 37 year old Boudleaux Bryant and his 31 year old wife, Felice. Although nearly 30 other artists turned the song down, The Everly's version will rise to #2 in the US and #6 in the UK by next May.

1964: The Trashmen enter the American Top 40 with "Bird Dance Beat", a follow-up to their #4 hit, "Surfin' Bird". The song will top out at #30.

1962: On weekend leave from marine training, The Everly Brothers appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. Wearing full uniform and regulation cropped hair, the duo sang their new single, "Crying In The Rain", which was currently number 6 on the Billboard chart.

1966: James Brown records "It's A Man's Man's Man's World" at Bob Gallo's Talentmasters studio in New York. The song would top the Billboard R&B chart and reach #13 in the UK. The song was originally called "It's A Man's World", but Brown added the extra words to the title as a reference to the 1963 hit comedy It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

1963: The Beatles saw their second release, "Please Please Me", reach the top of the UK singles chart. No one seemed to care that during one verse, John and Paul can clearly be heard singing different words.
