1964: "Navy Blue" by Diane Renay peaks at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her highest charting follow-up, "Kiss Me Sailor" would only make it to #29.

1965: The Beatles topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the seventh time with "Eight Days A Week". Paul McCartney would later say the name of the song came from a chauffeur who drove him one day. "I said, 'How've you been?'. 'Oh working hard,' he said, 'Working eight days a week.'"

2007: Levon Helm, the former drummer for The Band, filed a lawsuit against a Manhattan advertising firm over the use of the group's song, "The Weight" in a television commercial for cell phones. Helm received a royalty payment for the use of the song, but didn't feel he was adequately compensated.

1989: 38 Special's biggest hit, "Second Chance" enters the Billboard charts where it will reach #6 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart. The Jacksonville, Florida based band featured Donny Van Zant on vocals and Don Barnes on guitar.

1962: Bruce Channel's "Hey! Baby" rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first of a three week stay. The song also had success on the R&B chart where it peaked at #2 and in the UK where it also reached the #2 position.
