1974: Terry Jacks was at #1 on the UK singles chart with "Seasons In The Sun", an English-language adaptation of the song "Le Moribond" by Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel. Earlier recordings had been released by The Kingston Trio and The Fortunes.

1964: The Supremes record "Where Did Our Love Go" at Motown Studios in Detroit. The song would become the first of their five straight US number one singles.

1956: Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally" enters the US Pop chart, where it would climb to #6. The record would top the R&B chart and became the first of his three US Top 10 hits. A cover version by Pat Boone appeared on the Pop chart simultaneously and reached #8

1965: The Beach Boys record "California Girls", which will reach number three in the US by August. In 2004, the song was ranked #71 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

1969: "These Eyes" by The Guess Who enters the Billboard chart on its way to #6 a month later. Guitarist Randy Bachman wrote the basic piano chords with an original title of "These Arms". Vocalist Burton Cummings changed the title to "These Eyes" and added the middle eight bars.
